About South Korea’s Privacy Law
South Korea has long demonstrated a commitment to privacy protection by enacting privacy laws starting in the 1990s. The right to privacy is a fundamental right that is protected by the nation’s Constitution. Although it enacted several privacy laws in the 1990s and early 2000s, it was in 2011 that South Korea enacted its comprehensive data protection law — the Personal Information Protection Act – or PIPA for short.
About the Worldwide Privacy Law Project
Professor Solove is developing training materials on the privacy laws of countries around the world. New materials are being added on an ongoing basis. In addition to whiteboards, we have privacy law courses for many countries, each about 15-20 minutes long.
