About Singapore’s Privacy Law
Data privacy in Singapore is largely regulated by the Personal Data Protection Act – or PDPA for short. The law was passed in 2012 and went into effect in phases from 2013 to 2014. The PDPA doesn’t cover government agencies or organizations, for whom there are separate but comparable rules. The PDPA has been clarified and elaborated upon by non-binding advisory guidelines, sector-specific guidelines, and cases. In 2020, the PDPA was amended to add data breach notification, a right to data portability, and stronger enforcement powers.
About the Worldwide Privacy Law Project
Professor Solove is developing training materials on the privacy laws of countries around the world. New materials are being added on an ongoing basis. In addition to whiteboards, we have privacy law courses for many countries, each about 15-20 minutes long.
