About Colombia’s Privacy Law
Colombia’s data protection law is the Statutory Law 1581 – the General Personal Data Protection Law. The law was enacted and went into effect in 2012. Colombia’s General Personal Data Protection Law was enacted to provide further protection to habeas data and rights protected by Colombia’s Constitution. This law was heavily influenced by the Data Protection Directive of the European Union. In 2013, Colombia issued Decree 1377, which supplements the General Personal Data Protection Law.
About the Worldwide Privacy Law Project
Professor Solove is developing training materials on the privacy laws of countries around the world. New materials are being added on an ongoing basis. In addition to whiteboards, we have privacy law courses for many countries, each about 15-20 minutes long.
