Privacy Organizations and Mentorship

International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP)IAPP Fellowship 03

The IAPP is the world’s largest privacy association.  Their site provides many free resources, job listings, events and more.  There are several annual membership tiers which provide members with resources and networking opportunities as well as discounts on events and seminars.  Each year, IAPP hires Westin Fellows to work at the IAPP’s headquarters in New Hampshire.  This fellowship is a great stepping stone.

Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA)


ISACA is a global organization with a membership of 180,000 IS/IT professionals.  They have memberships for professionals, recent graduates and students.  Membership provides networking opportunities (including at local chapters) as well as certifications, trainings and research.

Cyversity


Cyversity’s mission is to promote the diversity in the cybersecurity space by mentoring women, under-respresented communities and veterans.  Members receive access to mentors, networking opportunities, career development and more.  They have a membership for professionals as well as students and veterans.

Blacks in Cybersecurity

Blacks in Cybersecurity’s mission is to increase and enhance the presence of the Black community in Cybersecurity.  It started as a series of events in 2018 and has expanded to include year-round events and multiple meetup groups.  There are additional training and education opportunities offered at the conferences as well.

Women in Security and Privacy (WISP)

Women in Security and Privacy (WISP) offers programs and networking opportunities to promote women and underrepresented communities is the privacy and security fields.  They host many events (online and in-person) as well as offer scholarships and mentorship programs.

Women in AI Governance (WiAIG)

Membership in Women in AI Governance (WiAIG) includes access to highly curated events and resources specific to women focused on building inclusive and ethical AI Governance programs.  They offer a mentorship program, specialized resources, as well as discounts on event pricing and access.

Women in Cybersecurity (WiCyS)

With a mission to encourage recruitment, retention and advancement of women in cybersecurity, a membership includes skills training programs, access to events and symposiums, job boards and more.  There are student chapters as well as local professional chapters
