I’ve been creating security and privacy awareness training for years, and I am always in the hunt for good stock photos to illustrate these issues. I thought I’d share with you some of the most ridiculous ones I’ve come across.
For the past four years, I’ve posted just the funniest hacker stock photos, but this year, I thought I’d broaden the focus and include more privacy and security topics. Without further delay, here they are . . .

GDPR , . . done! Mission accomplished! Crossed off the list. And, it’s the only thing on the list, so this smug person thinks he or she can take the rest of the year off. The folks in California caught a glimpse of this, and they just couldn’t stand it. The rest is history . . .

A few Tylenol pills will make the GDPR headache go away . . .

Tell me how you really feel about the GDPR . . .

Many images like this one and the one before . . . Not much love for the GDPR in stock photo land.

This is just theatrics. Why three binders? The large one at the top has just a few sheets of paper in it. Everything could fit into that one binder.
Privacy+Security Stock Photo #6
Although GDPR compliance can seem hopeless, the answer is never to squirt oneself in the head with a squirt gun.

There should be a category at the Academy Awards for best performance in a stock photo.
Privacy+Security Stock Photo #8
Although this seems like a normal photo of two people looking at a laptop computer, there are several things that show that this photo is pure fantasy. First, what’s the point of the blank sticky notes on the computer monitor? Second, the oddest thing here is that these people are actually reading the privacy policy. Fake news! Sad!
Privacy+Security Stock Photo #9
Obviously, the best place to keep your secrets is in the place where they can most easily be found.
Privacy+Security Stock Photo #10
It is apparently common practice for doctors to leave HIPAA violations lying around on their desks along with stethoscopes and syringes. This is why HIPAA training of all healthcare providers is essential!
Privacy+Security Stock Photo #11
Who needs NIST 800-53, ISO/IEC 27001, or any elaborate set of security controls? These are for amateurs. Security is simple — just turn the switch ON.
Privacy+Security Stock Photo #12
How do you comply with the GDPR? The California Consumer Privacy Act? Just turn the dial to high.
Privacy+Security Stock Photo #13
What privacy right is being violated here? Maybe the right to be forgotten? Or, is this about data portability?
Actually, the privacy right involved in this photo involves an issue that cuts even closer to the core of basic human dignity: The right of a data subject not to be photographed as a complete idiot in a stock photo.
